Multi-purpose sports and concert arena. Built 1996-1998 by Architekturbüro Peter Böhm. Opened 17 Oct 1998 with a gala concert by Luciano Pavarotti. Originally named "Kölnarena", 2008 officially renamed "Lanxess Arena" after a corporate sponsor. Used for ice hockey and handball events as well as pop and rock concerts. Maximal capacity: 20.000 people.
