Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Hamburg City: Hamburg Location: Altstadt, Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz (formerly: Pferdemarkt) Built 1912 by Lundt & Kallmorgen to replace the old Thalia-Theater at the other side of the street. Opened 1912. 1300 seats. Demolished by bombs in 1945. Provisionally restored and re-opened 1946. Later rebuilt by Werner Kallmorgen. Re-opened 3 Dec 1960 with G. B. Shaw's "Die heilige Johanna" (Saint Joan). Used by the resident municipal drama company. Notable world premieres:
