Built 1996-1998 by Helmut Braun, Martin Schlockermann, and Dieter Köhler (Link: www.bsp-architekten.de). Acoustics consultants: Müller-BBM. Opened 15 Oct 1998. The complex includes two halls, "Großer Saal" (1500 seats) and "Kleiner Saal" (350 seats). Named in honour of the Halle-born German/British composer, George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Used for musical theatre performances by touring companies, classical and pop concerts, congresses, and various festivities.
