Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Thüringen District: Landkreis Gotha City: Gotha Location: Ekhofplatz (Arnoldiplatz) Built 1837-1839 by Gustav Eberhard. Opened 2 Jan 1840 as "Herzogliches Hoftheater". 1861-1862 additions. 1919 renamed "Landestheater". Destroyed by a fire caused by warfare on 3 Apr 1945. Remains secured, but 1958 demolished. [Later, a high-rise was built on the site. 1998, the high-rise was demolished and replaced by a department store.] Notable world premieres:
