Also known as "Salle Favart" (the 1st Paris theatre of that name), named in honour of the French opera librettist and Vaudeville author, Charles Edouard Favart. Opened 28 April 1783 as home to the "Opéra-Comique" (1783-1801, 1804, 1805). 1802-1804, 1815-1818 and 1825-1838 used by the "Théâtre Italien". Main venue of the Paris Opera from 19 Apr 1820 to 11 May 1821. Destroyed by fire on 13/14 Jan 1838. [Subsequently, a 2nd "Salle Favart" was built on the site. Destroyed by fire in 1887 and replaced by the 3rd "Salle Favart", home to the "Opéra-Comique".] Notable world premieres:
