Works by Edgard Degas |
Edgar Degas's paintings and drawings of auditorium, stage, boxes, foyers, dance studios and the people in these spaces are almost exlusively set at the Salle de la rue Le Peletier. Even after the theatre had been destroyed by fire and after the opening of Garnier's new Opéra (which Degas detested), Degas continued painting scenes that depict or at least resemble the old opera house. |
