Theatre in the Eastern wing of the "Palais-Royal", built by Jacques Lemercier for Cardinal Richelieu. Opened 14 January 1641 with Jean Desmarets de Saint-Sorlin's and Richelieu's "Mirame". From 1660, main venue of Molière's theatre company. From 1673, main venue of the Paris Opera. Destroyed by a fire on 6 April 1763. Later, another "Salle du Palais-Royal" was built on the site (opened 1770, destroyed by fire in 1781).
