Country: France Region: Île-de-France Department: Paris City: Paris Location: III.; 41, boulevard du Temple First theatre on the site opened 1770 in a former "jeu de paume" ball house. 1851 rebuilt and re-opened as "Folies-Mayer". 1853 renamed "Folies-Concertantes", 1854 "Folies-Nouvelles", 1859 "Théâtre Déjazet" (after the French actress and theatre director, Virginie Déjazet, owner of the theatre from 1859 to 1870). 1871 again renamed "Folies-Nouvelles", 1872 again "Théâtre Déjazet", 1876 "Troisième Théâtre Français", 1880 shortly again "Folies-Nouvelles" and from 1880 again "Théâtre Déjazet". 1882 rebuildings. From 1939 to 1976 used as a cinema ("Le France"). 1943/44 used as a location for some scenes of the film, "Les Enfants du paradis". From 1977 used as a music hall ("Déjazet Music Hall"), and later again as a live theatre. 1986-1992 known as "Théâtre libertaire de Paris, TLP-Déjazet". 600 seats.
