Country: France Region: Grand Est (Lorraine) Department: Meurthe-et-Moselle City: Nancy Location: 3, place Stanislas Built 1751-1755 by Emmanuel Héré as a medical college. 1758 converted into a theatre. Destroyed by a fire on 4 Oct 1906. Subsequently, the similar baroque building facing the old theatre on Place Stanislas was converted into a new theatre (today's "Opéra national de Lorraine"), while the ruined theatre was converted into a museum and re-opened as "Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy" in 1936. In 1983 the building was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the ensemble "Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière and Place d'Alliance in Nancy".
