Built 1909-1914 and 1928 by Tony Garnier as a cattle market hall ("Grand Hall des abattoirs", "Marché aux bestiaux"). Opened 1914 during the "Exposition internationale urbaine de Lyon". Closed 1967. 1988 converted into a concert hall and named in honour of its architect. 1999-2000 restorations. 17.000 seats. Used for exhibitions, large shows and pop concerts.
