Built 1894 by Ferdinand Fellner & Hermann Helmer for the impresario Károly Somossy. Opened 1894 as "Somossy Orfeum". 1902 renamed "Fovárosi Orfeum" (Capital City Orpheum), 1922 renamed "Fővárosi Színház" (Capital City Theatre), 1923 renamed "Fovárosi Operettszínház" (Capital City Operetta Theatre). Renovations 1966-1971 and 1996-2000. 1998 renamed "Budapesti Operettszínház" (Budapest Operetta Theatre).
