Opened 21 Sep 1907 with Beethoven's "Weihe des Hauses", Strauß's "Fledermaus Ouverture" and Gustav Kadelberg and Richard Skowronek's operetta "Husarenfieber". 1945 renamed "Divadlo Julia Fučika", in honour of the Czech journalist and author, Julius Fučik (1903-1943) - not the Czech composer of the same name.
